What is STAR?
STAR (Striving to Achieve Results) strives to improve the lives and self-esteem of Brevard County's teenagers while simultaneously enhancing the environment that they grow up in.
STAR identifies locations where a decorative mural would beautify or improve the surroundings and devises a concept for the mural.
STAR then recruits teenagers who design the mural artwork, submit it for approval by the board, learn the tools and techniques required to
implement an attractive, large-scale mural, and then go out and paint the mural themselves. The work that they do becomes a lasting contribution
to the environment, evidence of their ability to undertake and complete a complex endeavor, and a statement of the positive step that
STAR teens have taken to discover their own hidden potential, talents, and abilities.
